Apple might be planning to announce its rival to the Amazon Echo next month at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The rumored “Siri Speaker” would be Apple’s first foray into the home AI business, and could bring a version of Siri designed to handle requests similar to Amazon’s Alexa.
The current Siri is unable to understand questions in context, which could pose problems as the AI tries to take on voice requests at home. It remains to be seen if Apple plans to release an upgraded version of Siri for this new device.
