After teasing customers with the idea a while back, Samsung has announced the Galaxy S7 Edge “Injustice Edition,” to be released in early June in China, Singapore, Korea, Latin America, and Russia, with more regions possibly on the way. The phone pays tribute to everybody’s favorite caped crusader, Batman, and serves as a tie-in with the popular DC comic and game Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The S7 Edge Injustice Edition will sport a black-as-knight paint job with the Batman logo detailed in gold on the back. The phone also comes with a custom Batman-branded plastic case, an all-black Gear VR headset, content vouchers for Oculus VR and the Injustice game, and a custom theme that changes the default icons and wallpaper to something more appropriate to the Dark Knight’s tastes. However, Samsung has indicated that the extras in the package may vary based on market and mobile service provider.
In its official press release, Samsung stated that the company was thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment as part of its efforts to launch the Injustice Edition of the Galaxy S7 for fans of the game and the superhero. Samsung added that the company had always sought to offer its customers the best mobile gaming experience and that the partnership was a step forward towards that goal.
In terms of hardware and performance, the phone is a standard Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge with its default, but still highly impressive, features such as a curved 5.5 inch Super AMOLED Display, water-resistance, and a 12 megapixel camera. Still, fans of the Bat, especially those who have already been eyeing the S7 Edge, have good reason to be interested.
