New reports have surfaced suggesting that Apple might, after all, launch three versions of the iPhone 7 instead of just two.
The iPhone 7 Pro has not been mentioned much in the final run-up to the release of the iPhone 7, leading many to believe that only the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Pro would be released. However, a new rumor is reviving the possibility that the 7 Pro might actually make it into production. If it does, it might sport a previously-rumored dual-camera setup.
The news surfaced after images showing three iPhone 7 models were leaked onto Chinese social media site Weibo. The three phones shown are the 4.7 inch iPhone 7, the 5.5 inch iPhone 7 Plus, and the iPhone 7 Pro. The former three variants come with single lens cameras, while, the latter variant comes with a dual-camera setup, as mentioned earlier.
What’s even more interesting is that the images indicate the presence of a smart connector on the rumored Pro model.
Discussion of the three possible iPhone 7 variants have been ongoing for a long time now, especially after Ming Chi Kuo of KGI Securities predicted the likelihood of an iPhone 7 Pro with a 5.5 inch screen. Around the same time, there were also other predictions about a dual-camera setup being incorporated to offer better low light performance, better image quality, and simultaneous photo and video capture. The recent leak lends some credibility to such rumors.
There have been a number of iPhone 7 related leaks in the past few months, many of which have provided similar descriptions of the upcoming device. For the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, a fairly complete and consistent image has arisen of an iPhone with a rounded antenna, two speakers, and no headphone jack. However, conflicting rumors about the existence and possible nature of the third Pro model leave its status very much up in the air.
