Although the latest handsets from Apple reached some markets late last year, speculation is already building regarding its next releases. Scheduled to be released next is their handset, the iPhone 7. The handset is expected to come with a new revolutionary design and upgraded features that many iFans have been eagerly anticipated for a long time.
The next iPhones will have big shoes to fill, as the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were able to make an astounding 13 million unit sales in the first three days of its release on the market.
“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”
Nevertheless, the iPhone 7 is said to feature more changes than its predecessor, which is basically just a small upgrade from the iPhone 6. Given Apple’s capability to market their handsets, it is likely that they will be able increase sales for their next handsets once it arrives this year.
The aesthetics of the new Apple handsets will be the most prominent changes we’ve seen in a long while from the tech giant.
While the iPhone 6s was featured by O2 to come with ‘breakthrough design features,’ the iPhone 7 will be introducing more innovative aesthetics that are said to be new to the smartphone arena. The current flagship features the 7000 series aluminum cover, the strongest cover glass, and a seamless design.
However, the iPhone 7 will be sporting more than just a material upgrade.
First, Apple are reportedly eliminating the headphone jack to decrease the thickness of the next handset by 1mm. It will adopt an all-in-one Lightning connector that supports both charging and music playback. The smartphone will also support wireless Bluetooth headphones.
Second, it is expected to be thinner than its predecessor with less ports and the usage of in-cell panel technology to achieve the same slim size of the iPod Touch. The current iPhone measures 6.9mm, while the iPhone 7 is rumored to be between 6.0mm to 6.5mm.
Third, a sturdier iPhone is on the way. Early rumors suggest that the next Apple flagship will come with ‘a strengthened, water-resistant frame,’ using a new compound material tougher than the traditional aluminum casing. However, the iPhone 6s is rumored to be water-resistant already as different tech resources have already undertaken many water resistant tests with the handset and it survived being dunked and submerged in a bowl of water.
Lastly, the company may make the handset completely wireless; as rumors are circulating that the iPhone 7 may support wireless charging. Although Apple is exploring the technology, there is no guarantee that the feature will arrive in said handset this year. But, Apple needs to find a way for the handset to still charge when the lightning port is being used for music playback, thus the possibility of wireless charging seems plausible.
There are plenty of rumored upgraded features that makes iPhone 7 one of the most eagerly anticipated smartphones of 2016. How do you expect the next Apple smartphone to look?
